Zee Englishcom.com website is NOT A COMMERCIAL WEBSITE but a FREE linguistic collaborative tool. It is a very friendly environment in which Native English Speakers and English As a 2nd Language Learners (ESL) can meet and share their cultural differences.
I always thought it was a little bit boring to learn English by reading grammar books (not very interesting) or by watching the TV (it rarely answers back). A language is something alive so it shouldn’t be a lonely experience. We too often forget that learning a foreign language is also about meeting and interacting with people who are different from ourselves. This is why it is so important to communicate with others when you learn a language.
This is something that can help people open their mind and makes them more respectful of our differences. I invite you to join Zee Community and eat a few frogs and snails with me! Come on be open minded!
How did it all start?
When I first created this website in 2008, it was just for private use. It was a very handy repository where I could keep all my learning materials. But after a few months I realised that a lot of people wanted to do the same thing so I decided to let people around the world join in so they could share their knowledge with the rest of us. It soon became Zee English Community, a place where people from different countries and cultures can help each other to improve their English. It is now growing faster than ever!

By the way, Zee is the sound that a vast majority of French people make when they try to pronounce the word The, That, This etc.. Zee became the friendly name to refer to this website and all it contains.
Why should ESL learners participate?
I think the two most important things for learning a foreign language are regular practice at your own pace and having fun. I would recommend a session of 10 minutes a day, whenever you have a bit of spare time. It is best to do different things each day. Concentrating your efforts on grammar lessons can have a negative impact on your progression, it can kill the fun and diminish you motivation.
Zee website gives you the opportunity to alternate your lessons between reading, listening, writing, talking, grammar and vocabulary. It is also a unique place to keep a copy of your English learning materials. You can publish anything you want, whenever you want, as many times as you want, as long as it is in accordance with our publishing guidelines.
Before you start learning English you must also set yourself achievable goals and reward yourself every time you reached them. A little bit of planning will help you move forward. Zee Community should be the perfect environment to help you stay on track. You will also be able to make new friends and talk to fellow students.
Don't worry if your English is not brilliant (yet); the most important thing is once again to practice. I would also recommend before you start your long journey to do Zee Test to check your level in English. Don't be frightened! My 5 year old daughter I'AMSMALL managed it.
Why should Native English participate?
People often find it very rewarding to help people learn their mother tongue. You don’t need to be a teacher to do it, and it’s not meant to be learning by rote. It shouldn’t be a tiresome exercise because English is your mother tongue and we we’re not asking you to analyze Shakespeare’s masterpieces.
You are meant to enjoy it as well! And above all, it is called friendship; you will make friends along the road. You will be able to learn new customs, traditions and "intriguing grammar rules" in your own language. Remember, it is often hard for foreigners to write (its time consuming) so they deserve a little bit of help.
How to get started ?
It is a very simple process to join Zee Community. All you need to do is to fill in the registration form. You need to enter a valid email and choose a username. Try to find a funny name, it makes it more enjoyable for all of us. Don't forget to tell us about your level in English (Native English speaker, English teacher, beginner level in English, intermediate level in English, advanced level in English).
Please don't use any offensive, commercial or marketing names such as "MyBestCreditOffers" and "CardOffersOnlyNow" . otherwise your account will be disabled and then deleted from our system. If you want to advertise your business with us please use the form in the Business Directory (English language related business only).
Once again, this is not an online school with students on one side and teachers on the other side (although there are many good ones around); but just a melting pot of people sharing the love of the English language. “Free remain it will!” could say our little green friend Zee Yoda.
